AFKA

AFKA is a New Orleans-born music producer who has lived in Louisiana the majority of his life. His style is heavily influenced by Madlib and the current lofi hip-hop scene. With a foundation built on the sounds of old sampling hardware such as the original SP-404 and the MPC 1000, his sound is warmer but earmarked by a hard-hitting feel. His beats range from melancholy to dark and sinister and parallel the story-driven narrative structure of his favorite authors. 

Recently, AFKA has released solo production works including the Drake-inspired If You’re Reading This, Get a Bag as well as a series of beats inspired by cats. He’s also one of two MCs in Bag Season and showcases his punchline-heavy wit on 2020 works including the label compilation EP Extravagant and deliciousbeets’ OSS.2.
